Here we have an exceptional loping hackamore I made up, with thoughts of adding it to the website. The time involved makes it not cost effective, however- so I only have this single set. Noseband is a 6 strand, braided flat on the bottom so it sits close to the horses face, but round on top to give an absolutely gorgeous look. It’s made from a rope I can no longer get, it’s polyester so will not rot, shrink or fade- but it FEELS just like a natural, jute cord. The reins are made from 4 strands of our 1/4″ soft halter rope- if I remember correctly, there is over 200′ of rope in these reins alone. They’re braided flat to hold, but round where they wrap the hack, for a clean set of lines. They’re about 6′ long each (I believe the entire length was about 14′ long) and black with a tan tracer. Very weighty feel to these reins.
Headstall features handmade, Clint Mortenson buckles and conchos. You can still find these available on his site- the conchos are $22 each and the buckles are $35 each. They’re hand stamped with the makers mark, and are super, super pretty.
The reins alone on this set took me about 3 hours to braid, and may or may not have a tear or two included! You will not find another set like this- and if someone asked me to build this, I would quite twice this price, simply for the time involved.
